Where is Horley?

It is located on the Surrey/Sussex Border and has expanded considerably over the past 50 years with the development of Gatwick Airport.

What do Lions Clubs do?

Lions Clubs have the motto “We Serve” and they all strive to help those in a time of need.

Many also support Lions Charities both National and International as well as local Charitable Organisations. The decision on who to support is entirely down to the Club .

Horley Lions Club

The Club was formed in 1963 with a membership of 15, which over the years has increased to approximately 30 members. Our membership displays a wide range in ages coming from all walks of life, but all with the same commitment to help those in need.

We are a registered charity with funds raised through regular fund raising events and through the incredible support of local people and businesses

Members are encouraged to attend a monthly evening meeting in which the running of the Club, the fundraising activities and the welfare issues are discussed, this being held in an atmosphere which is relaxed, and with humour.

There are also various social events during the year including a monthly lunch get together.

Twinning

The Cub has been twinned with the Bad Nauheim Lions Club near Frankfurt in Germany since 1987 and an annual weekend “get together” is organised. (Totally paid for by the members of-course).

Membership

All Club Members pay a small annual Membership Fee which covers the administration costs of running the Club. We are always looking for new Members and, although we are not a secret society, Membership is by invitation only. If you are interested in joining why not contact us and we will explain the operation of Lions and invite you to attend one of our meetings. Equally if you have commitments that prevent you from taking the commitment to join the Club but would like to help at our events, we would be pleased to hear from you.
